Planting Ideas - Courtyard With High Walls
Interior courtyard gardens can often feel very closed in and cramped. This is especially true with small courtyards with very high garden walls. A skyline view extended up and creating a large expanse of blank vertical space can feel very confined as well as uninteresting.
In this courtyard garden, character garden plants have been used to break up the space and create a percieved ceiling that draws the attention away from the long expanse to the top of the wall. By using only a partial cover, the expanse is broken up. If we were to cover the entire wall space with plants we would create the same problem with just a different element.
