Automatic Pool Cleaners

Ever wonder what life would be like if you woke up one morning and something had mysteriously cleaned your pool for you? What would you do with the rest of the day? Well that is exactly the kind of thing you have to worry about when you have an automatic pool cleaner. All jokes aside all pool cleaners are not the same. Knowing the limitations of each type cleaner can help you make an informed decision before your purchase and lessen the chances of you being disappointed with your choice.

Suction side and pressure side pool cleaners both use the swimming pools' filtration system to operate. While some pressure side pool cleaners use a booster pump to enhance their cleaning abilities, it is still necessary that the pool pump be running while they are in use. Almost all of these two type cleaners use a random cleaning pattern and spend a great deal of their time re visiting areas of the pool they have already cleaned , All that wasted time makes it necessary for the cleaner to operate longer in order to cover all areas of the pool.

About the only difference in a suction side cleaner and the old manual pool vacuum that you've become friends with is the fact that it moves around the pool on it's own. It's true, you don't have to persuade it with a stick to make it work. Just connect it to the skimmer and throw it in the pool.

Depending on which pressure side cleaner being referred to, it may or may not require a booster pump. Either way it is still necessary for the pool pump to be running for it to work. Operating off of the return or pressure side of the pool plumbing allows this type cleaner to circulate a large amount water. jets located in the throat of the cleaner direct water upwards through it creating a suction on the bottom side of the cleaner. all the water flows through a bag mounted on the top of the cleaner that captures trash and debris for removal.

Robotic pool cleaners run off electricity and are completely independent of the pool filtration system. Now you're probably thinking, electricity and water!! There's a combination that could make for an interesting afternoon!! Not the case, they use a transformer to reduce the voltage to 24 volts. Still it necessary to keep swimmers out of the pool while the robot performs it's task. Robotic pool cleaners have their own pumps, drive mechanisms and filtration systems built right in. Many robotic cleaners incorporate some sort of guidance system. Programmed cleaning patterns make them more efficient than most random pattern cleaners.
