Carbon Good Guys set to shake up global Corporations

Like children we safely snuggle under that blanket or duvet of our beds, finally awakening from our nights sleep, expecting that our planet, our home, is as we left it the night before. But for one moment, look through the other end of the telescope, through the eyes of cosmonaut Vladimir Shatalov who said while looking down from space "beyond air there is emptiness, coldness and darkness. The boundless blue sky, which gives breath and protects us from the endless black and death, is but an infinitesimally thin film. How dangerous it is to threaten even the smallest part of this gossamer, this conserver of life".

Global Warming is now a widely recognised fact within the science community and outwith. With so much at stake for ourselves and generations not yet here, we need to focus attention on who are the Carbon Good Guys and more importantly, who are not. World Corporations have recently been widely criticised for not making real changes on carbon reduction and have been accused of abusing initiatives such as carbon credits and offset schemes, with no real attempt being made to change the way they do business. It seems that 'creative' accounting may be at work, when publishing their own direct carbon emissions data.
Big business seems incapable of being trusted to make real changes in the way they operate and effect Climate change.

Governments are often short sighted in their actions, unable or unwilling to take that giant step out on a limb. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair recently said governments are too busy firefighting to truly make a difference. ‘It is frightening with the day-to-day hustle and bustle of government how little time is spent on the major issues such as carbon,’ he said. For example, the UK’s environment minister would come in for a meeting with him for perhaps two hours a month if he was lucky. The Cabinet would work out some short-term project and say: ‘OK,let’s do this or that.’

Mayor Amschel Rochschild in 1790 stated "Let me issue and control a nations money and I care not who writes the laws". Large corporations seem to have fallen at the first fence in their abuse of carbon offset credits and the selling of EU provided carbon credits in order to satisfy their shareholders and financiers. You can not serve two masters, either one or the other. Money is a tool for power and as in all things, is open to abuse.

Many high profile business leaders and respected figures have expressed concerns at the "piecemeal efforts" being made and suggested that more effort is required.

Businesses rely on you, the consumer to buy their products and services to survive, prosper, develop and expand. Therefore you are the key, if you care enough to question who sells you your products or services and vote with your feet, big business will be forced to move with you. In the old days, you did not expect the milk man to deliver your milk and then trample over your tulips on the way out, so today we don't expect companies to make profits at the cost of the environment that we and our children live in. Corporations need to change in their own sector, as we all do, and every little will help.

Carbon Good Guys™, intend to have all major companies shown on their league tables, with rankings based on real participation in Carbon dioxide (C02) reduction measures, whether that is a response to the Carbon Disclosure Project or investment in new meaningful technologies, or initiatives to change the way they have operated and lessen their impact on world climate change. All 'mannikins' will be shown in the 'shop window', naked if necessary and clothed when their environmental attire becomes available for each business. You, the consumer, will then be better informed as to who is really putting their money where their mouth is, or is spinning you a clever yarn in through advertising.

You will soon be able to click, country by country, on your area of the globe and see who is making real efforts on carbon dioxide (C02) reduction measures and to the way they operate. This will allow you, the valued consumer, to make a more informed choice over who gets your cash and help reverse Global warming.

Despite clever titles like 'Corporate Social Responsibility', all the protections against corporate power, which began with East India Company, sought by the American Founders have been lost. Corporate law which is based on a fraud, has been used to give Corporations 'personhood', giving them similar rights to meet and influence their elected members. In the 1996 elections the top 500 corporations gave over $500,000 each, two years later in 1998 these corporations gave $660,000,000 to candidates. Chemical corporations, quoting the Santa Clara case, have claimed the right to privacy to prevent uninvited inspections of their toxic sites by the Environmental Protection Agency. Corporations, asserting the right to free speech, used a perverse advertising campaign to kill former President Clinton's proposal for health-care protection to the 40 million un-insured. Corporations have always put profit before human life. So it should be no surprise that they are flouting measures to reduce the 30 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide currently being released by human activity in 2009.

The people need to tame this 'animal', as California's local government has already passed laws that prevent corporations the status of persons,. while in Pennsylvania townships have forbidden corporations from owning or controlling farms in the community. Oil companies are constantly manipulating the market, with yesterdays product, to discourage investment in renewable energy technology that will provide sustainable energy sources and independence all countries from various controlling factors. The 'movers and shakers' in the banking world are going to have to move with the times in protecting the future of the planet and start directing some of that vast wealth towards projects and initiatives that are going to give them a return when they 'wake up'.
