Flagstone Garden Path Border Plantings
I threw this garden path photo in for as much the borders as the walkway itself. There's a good landscaping lesson in the way these flower borders are created. Along with having a purpose of covering the edge of the walkway, these flowers and plants are also planted with a graduation from shorter plants in the front to taller varieties in the back.
The flagstone walkway is a common style and pattern for walkways and patio ideas. Unlike most of the paths and walkways in this directory, this one has mortared joints between the step stones. And while it does create a more solid foundation, it requires a more solid base to remain stable and keep the mortar joints from cracking. It also requires a little more labor and skill to build which is probably the main reason that most gardens and landscaping have paths with gravel or base joints.
