Landscaping Without Plants

Generally, a landscape design without plants isn't even a consideration. And while this design will have plants a little later on, it does show how it is possible to create a landscape design that will look good even without vegetation.

Just as plants are an element used to create unity, continuity, and beauty, textures and colors in hardscapes can also be used to do the same. And an advantage of doing a landscape design like this would also eliminate having to water or replace any plants.

In this example you can see how we created continuity to connect both sides of the sidewalk together.

You can see here how the color and rock scheme follow the same line from one side of the sidewalk to the other. This creates a continuity that would be if the sidewalk was not there.

Compared to the landscapes in the background, you can see that this garden, even without plants, is still interesting in Winter and Fall.
