Front Yard Landscape Design - Lawn Sprinkler Design

In your initial landscaping plan, it's difficult to consider everything that will or could happen in the future. However, separating the possibilities into categories of natural and man made wear and tear, you're more likely to cover more bases.

Besides being a good contrast to the bark mulch, the color of these curbs is a lighter color for another reason. In our area, the water is extremely hard. And with an automated sprinkler system installed, it's certain that the curbing will become stained and etched. A darker stained concrete would begin to show water stains within days.

So in preparation, the concrete curbing is stained a lighter color the same as the driveway. It may still show a bit but not in a way that is intrusive.

With the curbing, all flower bed elements, and the sprinkler system installed, the lawn area is raked clean and ready for planting. We will seed it with a hybrid Fescue variety. When there are flower beds and borders in the landscape, a non invasive lawn grass such as Fescue is a much better choice than something like Bermuda.
