Landscaping Ideas

Even with the amount of information available, a ready made idea that will fit your own purpose and lot can still be very hard to come by. Don't be discouraged. The inspiration and creativity will come.

First, you can take advantage of the free information on this site and my own gallery of designs. It's a great place to start. I've also created another pictures gallery of other designers work. So as an addition to this site, you can also browse through a lot of other pictures of landscaping for inspiration.

In the early days of my career as a designer, I had to pull ideas from a world of different sources. Since I basically decided one day that I wanted to be a landscape designer, I had to find some good resources. There are a few worth mentioning here that will help you more than others.

Of all the design resources that I personally have, the one collection that especially takes into account the different yards and shapes that we've created is My Own Garden Designer And Plans Collection.

It is an excellent selection of complete projects where I share all of the variabilities of the designs. Each design has pictures, examples, and applications for several of our different shaped lots. I've found this to be a very helpful design resource that folks refer back to often.

An option that I think every landscaping professional and homeowner should read before they ever begin is Residential Landscape Architecture: Design Process for the Private Residence (3rd Edition) .

While this book was created for landscape designer students, it's also written for you. It is simple enough and complete enough to guide homeowners through the entire creative design process from scratch. Discover how to think it and design it yourself.

Also, if you've been looking for general landscape pictures and ideas, you've probably already spent a lot of time searching. There's some good stuff out there. It just takes a while to find it.

The new garden design directory is simply a lot of links to landscaping ideas photos that I feel are of exceptional or at least marginal landscaping projects.
