Kansas Native Plants

Kansas Native Plant Society - The Kansas Native Plant Society (KNPS) educates the public about the indigenous plants of Kansas - wildflowers, grasses, trees and others - found in our prairies, woodlands, wetlands, and gardens. Through a number of programs, events, and resources, the society offers help to anyone interested in creating a small garden or landscape using the native plants of Kansas.

Kansas Native Plants - On this site, you'll find a large database showcasing a variety of plants found in Kansas. Each individual page includes photos of the plants as well as detailed information, such as sun and water requirements, to help you grow the plant successfully in your own xeriscaping project.

Kansas Wildflowers & Grasses - This site contains information and more than 2600 photos to help with the identification of around 540 species of forbs, grasses, sedges, rushes, and woody plants that are found growing in Kansas.

USDA Plants Database - Created by the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, this database offers plenty of useful information about the native plants of Kansas. Within the individual plant pages, you'll find pictures along with information, such as distribution maps and links to other resources, to help you grow whatever plants you may be interested in.
