CHEAP LANDSCAPE AND GARDEN BOOKS

Most serious gardeners and do it yourselfers have a large library of reference. Even if we never read them, it's still neat to have them.

Here are a couple of links to where you can expand your own library for practically nothing.

Book close outs has a good assortment of some really neat mix match, discontinued, and out dated landscape and garden books.

These are still great books filled with information on almost any subject you can think of. Some are as low as $1.99 but many are limited quantities.

GARDEN TIPS - Surfactants Save Time And Money
=========================================

Here's another "oh geeze Steve, everybody knows that" garden tip.

Last week as we were spraying some selective herbicide, our client was curious as to why we put "soap" in our poison mix.

Good question!

But actually, we weren't using "soap". We were using detergent.

A few drops of liquid laundry or dishwashing detergent added to your liquid fertilizers, insecticides, or herbicides can actually make them more effective and economical.

The detergent forms a slippery film that spreads out over the entire plant causing your mix to be distributed more evenly to all parts of the plant.

There are surfactants you can buy that are made especially for agricultural purposes. However, we've found that a few drops of detergent works just as well.

That's all for this issue.
