Railroad Tie Steps And Stairs
One of the landscaping applications that I find for railroad tie stairs and steps is in desert landscaping or xeriscaping ideas like this one. Since they have such a hard shape and are generally repeated throughout the landscapes they're used in, railroad ties are a very dominant element that has a lot of influence in the atmosphere of the landscaping. And because of their rustic and worn look, they may not work well with the majority of landscaping and garden design projects.
Besides being used in landscaping stairs like this, railroad ties are also used a lot in building retaining walls. Since they're treated and preserved so heavily, retaining wall ideas created with them generally resist decay from the dirt and moisture against them. They're most often used because they're inexpensive no brainer elements.
