Inlaid Stone Garden Steps

Setting the paver stones into the concrete is a fairly simple project once step height is calculated and riser borders placed. The risers for a garden path like this can be anything from railroad ties to pavers to stained decorative concrete. Of course, something complimentary to the tread (flat part) is preferred.

While this picture shows inlaid stone as the tread material, it doesn't have to be limited to that. This idea can use most anything in this area from pea gravel to stained stamped decorative concrete. A common and inexpensive version of these stairs uses railroad ties as the riser borders and pea gravel as the treads.
