Patio floors like this are real simple to create. It's a matter of leveling the area, laying out your chosen concrete paver blocks, and filling the joints with gravel. The gravel in between the joints will also help displace quite a bit of water when it rains.
With this patio being enclosed, there is a possibility of of flooding from a heavy down pour. If you look closely in the top left of the picture, you'll see a gutter system which is a necessity for drainage in an enclosed courtyard patio like this. For a more detailed example of a concrete paver patio floor and gutters, go to courtyard drainage to see a project that we did using slope and an underground gutter system for the drainage.
