Creative design tips and ideas for planting a small raised garden in the shade

This small shady garden idea is simple to create and can accent almost any spot that needs a fix or focal point.

This peticular design idea is laid out to fill a void in avery large yard of otherwise tall trees. It's the first thing that catches your eye when you enter the property.

Rough cut natural stone blocks have been dry stacked to form the border of this small shady garden. The first block has been placed 4 inches in the ground to create a weed barrier.

The plant choices here are just as simple. We used a mix of Hosta, Caladium, Coleus, and ferns for the outer border. The centerpiece is a dwarf evergreen and the back drop is Japanese Yew. Very colorful and simple.
